A delegation of 30 students from the Civil Engineering Department at Fahad Bin Sultan University paid a visit to Prince Sultan Bin Abdul-Aziz Airport in Tabuk on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2017. Dr. Yazan Isa, from Civil Engineering Department, accompanied the students during this visit, which started by a detailed meeting between the group and Mr. Najm (Airport Operational Manager) and Mr. Al-Masoudi (Air Traffic Control Supervisor). Mr. Najm welcomed the students and the supervisor and gave a detailed description about the airport, airside design, runway capacity and future plans. After that, the students were taken on a field trip with Mr. AL-Masoudi and Mr. AlKhamessi (Airport Alternate Director) to the different parts of the airport starting from Fire and Rescue Station, where Ambulances and Fire Cars where gathered near runway for quick response to any accident. Students were briefed by airport staff about the different elements of runway (lighting, marking, signs). Finally, the group visited the Meteorological tower, where the supervisor explained the procedure used to collect and record atmospheric data like temperature, wind direction and speed.
