In observance of the 88th Saudi National Day, Fahad Bin Sultan University organized on Tuesday, Sept. 25th, 2018 numerous activities in both wings of the university. The celebrations in the male section started with the national anthem followed by a documentary on the unification of the kingdom and the achievements of King Abdulaziz Al Saud (May Allah rest his soul in peace). In his speech, Dr. Salman Balawi, Dean of Student Affairs, welcomed the audience and pointed to the importance of this grand event and the values and morals it bears. Thereafter, a poetry symposium entitled “Glory and Exaltedness” was held. Four renowned poets participated in the symposium, namely, Eid Hweiti, Sultan Alatawi, Nayi’ Otaibi and Fheid Balawi. The poets presented a collection of their national, social and love poetry intermittently with great passion and soulfulness that stirred the audience. At the end of the symposium, FBSU Chancellor Prof. Malkawi, the patronizer of the event, distributed commemorative shields to the poets. The event was attended by the VP for Development, the deans of colleges, faculty members and a large mass of students.
The celebrations in the female section, on the other hand, started with the national anthem followed by a documentary on the history of the kingdom. On her part, Dr. Maha Juhani, Assistant to the Chancellor, shed light on various phases of the kingdom’s history. At the end of the ceremony, the participants toured the National Day Bazaar, which displayed some national pictures, and then enjoyed some local dishes prepared on this occasion.
