A team of students from Fahad Bin Sultan University (FBSU), under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Nadeem Akhtar, has been honored with the Best Innovation Award at Xthon4 2026. The competition, hosted by the University of Tabuk in partnership with the NEOM Innovation Center from April 27-30, 2026, brought together over 330 participants and 55 organizations to address critical challenges in road safety and sustainable transportation.

The award-winning project proposes a fully sustainable porous asphalt pavement, a green solution designed to combat urban waterlogging. The student team successfully developed a lab-scale model that meets all standard recommendations and demonstrates significant potential for addressing both local and global water management issues.

University President Prof.  Abdallah I. Husein Malkawi expressed his pride in the students' achievements. He encouraged continued participation in such prestigious events further to represent FBSU on both local and global stages
