As we embark on this transformative journey spanning from 2024 to 2029, the College of Medicine is proud to unveil its first strategic plan—an ambitious and comprehensive framework designed to enhance the landscape of medical education and patient care. This plan was meticulously crafted by a dedicated group of experienced faculty members, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise in medicine.

Our strategic plan is a bold commitment to excellence that articulates our vision for the future of medical education. It seeks not only to advance our instructional methods and curriculum but also to nurture a culture of collaboration, innovation, and research within our college. By setting clear objectives, the College of Medicine aims to ensure that our graduates are not only proficient in medical knowledge but also skilled communicators who can engage effectively with diverse patient populations.

Degree Requirements

In order to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery, students must successfully complete 250 credit hours of coursework. The distribution of the required courses and credit hours of this program is as follows:

A) College Requirements

Compulsory Medical school requirements: 214 credit hours

1.   Mandatory medical school prerequisites:  Requirements of the College of Sciences and Humanities include earning 13 approved credit hours.

The Faculty of Medicine outlines specific requirements totalling 198 credit hours, which students must complete in accordance with the designated sequence and numbers specified in the study plan. The plan also clarifies the nature of each course, whether it involves theoretical instruction, practical learning, or clinical training.

3.   Medical school elective requirements: Clerkship Elective Courses:  4 credit hours

Students within the Faculty of Medicine have the opportunity to fulfil their elective requirement by selecting courses offered by the clinical sciences department or from other esteemed teaching hospitals, both locally and internationally. Students are required to choose a total of 4 credit hours (equivalent to 4 weeks) from the curated list of courses presented below.
